With the 2016 Rugby League Championship season about to enter its critical Super 8’s phase, Swinton Lions have looked to add a high profile signing to their ranks. Its therefore significant news that they have been able to secure the services of the former Leigh Centurions prop-forward, Jake Emmitt, who is currently enjoying a stint in Australia. Jake will be flying back to the UK within the next two weeks to join them for the remainder of the Championship season and we are delighted to have a agreed a deal to sponsor him for the remainder of the year.

Jake is 27 years old and originally from Warrington, although he initially made his name with St Helen’s for whom he played 19 games in the Super League up to 2010. He had a loan spell at Leigh, before moving on to Castleford where he played 52 Super League games between 2011 and 2013. He spent the back end of the 2013 season at Salford, before joining Leigh. Over the past three seasons Jake has been an important cog in the Leigh machine at Championship level, with some 76 appearances and 7 tries to his credit. Jake has also played in three separate tournaments for the Welsh national team for whom he qualifies through family connections.

Speaking on behalf of the Swinton Lions’ Commercial Director, Martin Vickers said, “Many thanks to Andy Mazey and S R Waite Group for backing Swinton Lions as we look forward to the challenge of the eights”
