COFEPOW – Children and Families of Far East Prisoners of War

S R Waite Group are proud to have added to our portfolio of charities which we support.

Our support of local community foundations and sporting clubs is well known, and we are proud to have solid links and partnerships with many local, regional and national charities. This latest charitable organisation however caught our attention outside of normal working hours.

Andy Mazey, head of the Group, explains: “every year my partner Charlotte and I attend a summer fund raising garden party and dog show, organised by Charlotte’s family, and hosted at their farm and family home. This has been an annual event for as many years as I can remember and something which Jenny,  Charlotte’s mother is very passionate about. Rather embarrassingly on my behalf I must admit, it is only this year that I have actually taken time to research the charity (COFEPOW) properly and now completely understand Jenny’s passion and the importance of the cause.

Having consulted our board we all agreed that a contribution to such a worthwhile cause would fit in with our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy (CSR) and hopefully assist Jenny and the ongoing efforts of those dedicated to the lasting memory of the Far East Prisoners of War and advancing knowledge of the suffering endured and sacrifices made by them during their years of captivity in World War II”.

If you would like to find out more about the charity and help remember those who were prisoners of war in the Far East, please visit https://www.cofepow.org.uk/

New apprentice Ryan sparks the start of his career

We are delighted to offer another new apprentice the opportunity to join our electrical team on our apprenticeship programme for 2016.

Ryan Gray will be mentored by colleagues some of whom also began their careers as apprentices with S R Waite Group and have now progressed through the company’s established training programme to become supervisors and managers.

Local lad, Ryan, will spend time on site giving him a head start before beginning his course at Wigan & Leigh College. The hands on experience gained whilst working on site will support the modules he will be studying at college to ultimately achieve NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.

Eighteen year old Ryan, a promising amateur rugby league player will learn, work and earn as well as gain qualifications to progress him through the ranks of his chosen career.

Director Mike Waite, speaking on behalf of the electrical division said ‘it’s great to recruit apprentices who we can train and mentor through our Career Development Programme. Many of our qualified electricians started their careers as apprentices including myself. We welcome Ryan to the team and look forward to working with him.’

SRW Group continues to grow within the building services and facilities management market

Boasting more than 20 years’ experience in the mechanical and electrical sector, SRW Group have continued to expand their offering in the building services and facilities management market.

Since January 2014 the SRW Group’s investment and expansion into new sectors has led to more job opportunities and apprenticeships both locally in Leigh and the Greater Manchester area as a whole.

SRW Group researched its customers’ needs and found that clients required comprehensive building and facilities support services, alongside company’s trusted core electrical skills.

Expansion was followed by the creation of several jobs and new relationships with various organisations, including Manchester College, which led to the company taking additional apprentices on board.

To accommodate the ongoing expansion and development of the business SRW Group is also reviewing its existing office and storage facilities with a view to buying new premises this year.

Andy Mazey, head of the Group, says: “Deciding to significantly invest in the infrastructure and personnel, producing a group structure, which incorporated a strategic building services and facilities management operation, was driven by our clients and has paid off.
